Philippine NT to play tune-up games against Kuwait NT

Post by Admin on Tue Jul 17, 2007 7:30 am

Kuwait
NT will test the mettle of SMC-Philippine NT as the two national squads
are set to meet for a tune-up game this coming Friday and Saturday.

Philippine
NT, which is still fresh from a third place finish in the recent W.
Jones Cup in Taiwan and winning the championship in the 1st
Smart-Manila Invitational Basketball Championship, will be expected to
give tune-up games the Kuwaitis needed in order to be ready for the
coming Olympic qualifier in Tokushima, Japan this coming July 28.

Kuwait NT, which takes the place of the Saudi Arabia NT due to its withdrawal, will be bannered by its star players Osamah Mubarak
(195-G/F-76) and Ahmad Al Mutairi (187-G-80) along with national team
mainstays Abdulaziz Al Rabiah, Abdullah Al Sarraf, Sulaiman Al Tubaikh,
Mohammad Ashkanani, Saqer Hasan, Abdulaziz Mohammad, and Shayee Saeed
(174-G-86).

Kuwait, one of the basketball powers in the Gulf
region along with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE, placed 13th in the 2005
FIBA-Asia Championship edition and will try to improve their placing
this time around.

Kuwait NT can be remembered in the 2005
FIBA-Asia in its win against RP's SEA basketball rival, Malaysia,
88-56. Kuwait also had a good game against South Korea in the last
FIBA-Asia as they managed to lose by only five points in the
preliminaries.
